Default problem with Olympos MP200A and SP-B

    Hi Fontgeek and everyone,

I have started asking for help in airbrushtechnique, but need to move to here while I sort out my account there.

Fontgeek, thanks for providing a lot of good info/help, I feel sorry that I can reply to you there.

To continue the story from http://airbrushtechnique.com/f458/pr...00a-19764.html

I have switch to the spare head and the MP now work really well. It can spray fine line using ink down to 12/13 psi. Below that it is still spraying but the line is a bit "rough" (down to below 10psi).

So I put in some thick vallejo acrylic, and find that the MP is doing really well.

I don't need to thin the paint so much due to the better atomisation of the MP. It can pull quite thick paint and do fine line. Many people said that micron will need more thinning and it is finicky. But from what I can see, the .18mm nozzle can handle thicker acrylics compare to my other .2 or .3mm AB. The MP seems to have stronger paint suction at a given psi compare to other AB.

I wish I get a micron sooner (Iwata or olympos).

I wonder what part of the micron design contribute to this strong paint suction.

    Now to my "broken" head.

Visually, it looks 100%. No crack, no deformation of any kind. I am using the same needle, and I have swapped the nozzle cap of the two head, and it seem to have no effect on both (the good is still good and the bad is still bad). So it is down to the nozzle (and the head base, but I think that is less likely).

What is wrong with this nozzle ?

I can buy replacement (I am getting a .23mm nozzle to get a MP-C setup using one body), so I am not trying to "repair/fix". But I am worried. If I don't know that "reason", I might damage the new nozzle or the good nozzle in the spare head during my normal use/cleaning process. I want to avoid doing things the the nozzle that can cause the problem I observed with the bad nozzle.

I hope to know what cause this lack of "suction" for the damaged nozzle.

My SP-B have exactly the same problem as the damaged MP-A head. No suction below 27psi.

the SP-B nozzle looks perfect too.

I am using 30x loupe and planning to get a 100x microscope to inspect the bad nozzles.

    kkx

airbrushtechnique.com was designed to be the support web site for subscribers to airbrush technique magazine and contributing artist it was never intended for the general public to take part in this web site was designed for that. We got away from that on airbrushtechnique.com for a while but are back on track now. If you feel $19.95 a year is to much for the support that comes with a subscription to our magazine or contributing an article to our magazine thats fine that is why we created this web site. I hope you find howtoairbrush.com helpful and enjoy your visits here.
