Default newbie needs helmet painting advice

    Hi,
I am an absolute beginner but fairly handy with a paintbrush so hopefully I will catch on quickly. I would like to paint my ski helmet and was wondering what the issues would be in terms of sanding as some ski helmets do not have a thick outer layer. Also, some are pretty shiny, so I am assuming all would have to be sanded and primed, or no? Lastly, what type of paint would you suggest for cold exposure once painted? Thanks for the help and sorry for the abundance of questions.

Default newbie needs helmet painting advice reply

    Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. I am attaching a photo of the helmet that I have which is made by an in-mold process where the foam liner and polycarbonate outer shell (Giro G9) are molded at the same time. I am also attaching a photo of another helmet that is made with hard shell construction where the outer hard shell is molded separately from the foam liner and then they are laminated together. I hope this helps a bit.

Also, I noticed that you have a workshop coming soon, any idea when that will be starting?

Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated,
    Tracy
