I'll be using primarily nitrocellulose lacquer for finishes on guitars with custom designs. I'll need to be able to get fine details. I was wondering which Iwata model would be most appropriate. I could cut the lacquer with a reducer for lower viscosity if needed, but since the part is so small (paintable area on the guitar body and/or neck), I'll still need the fine line ability. Will the Iwata Custom Microns be able to pass nitro to form fine lines, or do I need to go with a larger needle model like HP-CS?
"Also, are the Iwata lines compatible with nitro?"
Iwata airbrushes have solvent proof seals so you should be fine.
I see no reason a Micron won't work for you.
How about the difference in fineness of lines between the Custom Micron and the HP-CS? I noticed on the tutorial that compared photos of different models and brands that I couldn't tell much difference.
Thanks again for your quick response (especially on a holiday weekend).
No airbrush comes out of the box that will do fine detail by itself, much is determined by the artist using the airbrush and their ability to control the airbrush. A skilled airbrush artist can get fine detail from just about any airbrush....
