    Default airbrush working environment

Can someone please describe an ideal airbrush environment. Is it safe to airbrush inside a house, what do you need to make that work?

I have no experience and I have not even got an airbrush....so looking for anything that might be obvious to those of you with experience.

Point me to online info if u wish.

    Thanks

What kind of paint are you using?

It would always be best if you had a studio, work area out side your living quarters as there is over spray invloved with airbrushing.

Although in might not be much over time it will collect on everything near by.

    brianm,

Welcome to the forum. I actually paint in the Master Bath. I have a very understanding wife! Since it doesn't have any real surfaces that can't be wiped down with alcohol and water, I have not had any problems. I just roll up the area rugs. I'm sure you might not have that large of a bath, but it's nice to have the water and sinks right there. In the summer time, she does move my butt out to the garage, but I still have the water and sink for clean ups. If you have a basement, that might be the best place to set up, especially if you have water and tubs down there.

    Welcome Brian

Like Don and Jan already mentioned, it would be best to spray in an area that other people and pets don't usually hang around in, like the garage or a basement.

If your planning on using urethanes, it would be best to spray in the garage with the door a little bit opened for some ventilation. I would not spray urethanes in the house unless you have the proper ventilation. Even with waterborne paints you should still have adequate ventilation.
I think this is very important for your safety and for your family.
One last thing, always wear a proper painting mask when you spray.

    brianm,

I should have mentioned, I'm using Createx and Golden paints that are thinned with water. As Gio said, do not do urethane paints in the house. One spark and you'll be out here with me in Mesquite, NV.
