I started with the cape....

Then the nose , it gives me the reference and perportion of the face...

Add some shading...

Then the mouth and last of the shadows . It was my first excercise on a face so I did not complete the picture , just wanted to get the excercise .

I'd say for your first portrait, you are doing awesome
I still haven't tried a portrait with the airbrush yet, but I'll have to one of these days.

Thats very good. Thanks for posting the way you build the image. As a first portrait it displays you have a great way of seeing, makes me want to see more.
