Default Problem, or am I missing something?

I just recevied my Talon by Paasche as well as the Paasche D3000R compressor with tank. Here's the Ebay link to Genisis Art Supply, whom I bought it from.
Paasche D3000R Airbrush Compressor w/ Storage Tank - eBay (item 370506174665 end time Jun-29-11 15:48:08 PDT)

The AB is in fine shape- of course, I haven't used it yet, see below.

The compressor, straight out the box, looks great. I plug it in, and flip the switch, and all I hear is the motor 'wanting' to work. It buzzes/hums, but wont spin up.

Also, when I move the compressor from horizontal to vertical and back again, it sounds like sand and a couple of small pebbles in the tank. Not a lot, but definitely some debris in it. Is this normal?

Both came packaged great in one box so both products were in their normal boxes inside one big box, no box damage, nothing. Good peanuts and bubble wrap.

Any suggestions? Am I missing how to operate a simple compressor? I've got my own pancake compressor for other work like odd jobs (finish nailing, brads, staples, airing up tires, etc) so I have at least used one before, but never a small AB compressor.

Hi Welcome to howtoairbrush.com I hope you find it helpful.

Before you do much more contact the folks you bought that from and explain the situation to them.....

Personally I would send the compressor back and just use your pancake compressor it will work fine and save you some money...

    Hi Don!

Thank you for the welcome. I've been a long time lurker, so feel right at home. I wasn't for sure if there was a set screw or something to hold the compressor in place during shipping- sort of like DVD/Cd players to hold the disc spinner.

Anyway, contacted the seller, and they gave me a direct # to Paasche, with an ext. #, and a contact name.

I agree on using my pancake compressor, except it's too noisy. I plan on running my new compressor on the enclosed back porch so noise is an issue. Otherwise, I would have used what I have already.

I'll uprise everyone here of the situation and on the customer service of Paasche on Monday.

    Thanks!
