    Question Compressor PSI

I don't know what psi to operate at. I am running a large compressor with a VL at 75 psi .
Should it be lower ? I have the ability to adjist it. I just don't know where it should be.

OMG...lol..jk..........Depending on paint and project and airbrush (and skill I believe) should determine your air pressure which I hear is usually 20-40 psi. I have heard of lower and occasionally higher but 75 is unheard of from what I have done or read. I would start at 20ish and test it and move up slowly from there in 3-5 psi incriments. The thinner the paint=less psi needed. I am only a noob myself so take my advice with caution, but I read alot and get my info that way....good luck.....l8r

    For my acrylics thinned 1:3
I use 25-30 psi for general spraying like, primming or rather large area
I drop it to 8-10 psi for a thinner paint then the ratio mentioned above for my smaller area and details
I had the same question when I started...
But at the end of the day just try different pressure/thinning ratio while varying the spraying distance =)

As Gahau and Bigsby have said, that is way more than you should be using. You are probably getting a lot of over spray with that kind of pressure. Why don't you drop it to about 20 psi then adjust it as low as possible to get the paint started. A little trial and error is needed to find out what it takes to get the right air pressure. As Gahau mentioned, different paint will require different pressures. If you ever get a bottom feed, they usually take a little more pressure. Have a good time with this! What Brand of paint are you using?
