Default If this is a dumb question.....

then I don't care, cos I'm gonna ask it anyways!

Ok, so I'm using a transparent cherry red and I want to darken it to a deeper red. (So that I can do a darker tone with it) I put a little transparent black in it and the whole deal went lke a purple shade. Okay, it works and yes, purple is conceivably a darker shade of red but I didn't really want the blue tones. Should I try adding say, transparent root beer or what?

ps;For the record, I'm (trying to) paint a dragon. Dy'ever feel like you bit off more than you could chew? lol! But you have to push/test yourself right?

i take it you want it deeper red in the shadow areas?

Use very thin, transparent purple to just render your shadow areas than over spray the hole piece with the red

Use a darker color underneath in stead of adding a color to it mixing wise

    hope that helps
