After 16 yrs. of business it was time for Bach Towing to have an update on their look. They wanted to do something extreme and different. They also had other trucks painted by Richard, each unique with their own design. This truck is a 1993 Ford F-450 with a Vulcan Wrecker. Shortly after Richard completed the job, the truck took 2nd place at the Baltimore Tow Show in November 2003 - it was its first time out.
Step 1 (use picture 1a or 1b) - I start my project by laying out the basic shape of the flame with a full size automotive gun using an opaque yellow.
Step 2 - Then using a phalo green transparent toner, I outline all of the flames, creating a nice fade between the yellow left behind and the black.
Step 3 - In this step I build more dimension to the flame and lay in the overall basic shape of the skulls.
Step 4 - Using opaque white (over reduced) I add detail to the skulls and highlights to the flames.
Step 5 - Finally, I complete the job by coating the entire flame with a transparent yellow toner, to give a nice vibrant look to the flame.
Step 6 - It's now ready for clear coat. ( for step 6, you can also use one or more of the pictures 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d)
